Epistaxiophobia- Fear of nosebleeds

The fear of nosebleeds is very common for kids and grown-ups that have problems with the fear of bleeding and this fear is called epistaxiophobia. It’s common for one to panic at the sight of blood and when you’re bleeding from your nose it can be a bit scary. Some might also fear that a nosebleed can signify something more serious like a bleeding disorder or a tumor in the nose thus this phobia is triggered.

Nosebleeds are common with those that have dry noses and those that are in dry rooms. The fear is very hard to get over, which means you need to take the steps of preventing the nosebleed from happening. The person should know the tricks to stopping a nosebleed and preventing them from happening. For instance, one can get a humidifier or make sure to avoid heaters. One should be educated that nosebleeds usually last only for a few minutes and all you need to do is sit down and pinch the bridge of the nose to stop bleeding. One might also put an ice pack over the bridge of the nose to stop bleeding. Most of the time you are told to sit down because one might be too scared of the bleeding and pass out.

There are many kids and adults that fear blood and when they have their first nosebleed they panic. That’s why it’s important to have someone to assure them that everything will be okay.
