Alektorophobia – Fear of Chickens

Alektorophobia is known as an abnormal and excessive fear of chickens, flying animals or feathered creatures. This may also include fear of eggs and living or dead chickens. Aside from that, sufferers may also fear being swooped upon or being pecked.

Alektorophobia may usually fear being relatively close to live chickens but may not include the cooked ones. The fear may involve talking and thinking about chickens, cartoon chickens, dead chickens, moving mobile chickens, pictures of chickens and almost anything that has to do with chickens.

Interestingly, alektorophobic individuals often believe that these creatures are far from benign. They may feel that chickens are aggressive and conspiratorial, and appears to always have an eye on the patient when they are around.

Patients may be surprised to know that they are not the only one suffering from such condition, although it is an unknown phobia. Alektorophobia is an excessive and intense fear of something that does not pose any actual danger at all.

Alektorophobia may include symptoms such as:

  • Dread feelings
  • Excessive sweating
  • Dry mouth
  • Shaking
  • Heart palpitations
  • Inability to think and speak clearly
  • Losing control
  • Breathlessness
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Feeling sick
  • Anxiety attacks

Individuals may be better satisfied with talk therapy even if it may have an extensive session, lower success rate and higher expense. But it is what most patients need. Energy therapists listen well and with compassion. With them, you may feel like it is the first time that you are being truly heard. Energy psychology is known as an emerging method which has been rapidly gaining favor since it has shown effective and long-lasting results. Success rates for eliminating Alektorophobia may be higher with the help of a therapist, but self-help, among all others, can provide an amazingly effective result.
